The director of Gonbad Kavous Agricultural Jihad said: annually, one million tons of various crops, horticulture, livestock and related products worth approximately 880,000 billion rials are produced in this city and sent to the domestic and foreign markets.

Habibollah Zara on Saturday in a press conference on the occasion of the beginning of Jihad-e-Agriculture Week (June 11-17) added: Gonbad Kavous agricultural production volume and its value in Rials is equal to 20 to 22% of the total production of this sector in Golestan and this city with 56 thousand tons of meat White alone accounts for 5 to 6 percent and with the production of 73,000 tons of eggs, 9 to 10 percent of the production of these two proteins in the country.

Zare announced the hatchery capacity of broiler chickens in Gonbad Kavous as 6 million and 500 thousand pieces in each quarter and stated: since the beginning of this year, the hatching volume in this city has been 20% more than the same period of the previous year.

He also referred to the harvest season of autumn crops (wheat, rapeseed, barley and sugar beet) in Gonbad Kavous and said: the harvest of 2 oilseeds of rapeseed and barley each ended with the harvest of 9 thousand tons and 21 thousand tons respectively. Wheat was harvested about 75% of the approximate area of 90,000 hectares of harvestable fields and 85,000 tons of wheat was delivered to shopping centers.

Gonbad Kavous with a population of 411 thousand people and having more than 160 thousand hectares of agricultural and garden lands is one of the important cities of Golestan province in agricultural production.
